KUNIGSGOROD - The Government of the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan states categorically that it will not adhere to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Currently the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan does not have a nuclear program though it feels as a nation surrounded by a nuclear state, it is of critical importance both to its citizens to begin research into constructing a source for nuclear energy as well as a nuclear weapon program to ensure the peace through deterrance.
The Sovereign, His Majesty King Andre I stated, "as a sovereign nation, we agree with the Treaty's concept of peacefully using nuclear technology. However, we also find it absolutely hypocritical that five states have signed this treaty which have nuclear arsenals of their own. While we understand their reasons for having their programs, we also believe that we have a right to pursue such a program which would go against the Treaty's goals of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and disarmament. If those five recognized nuclear states wish to disarm, we would warmly welcome all states to disarm their nuclear weapons. We fully understand this will never occur so we shall have our own program. The Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan would only use nuclear weapons in a most extreme case, the loss of our sovereignty."
The Sovereign, His Majesty continued, "The United States has attacked sovereign nations upon the false accusation of having a 'weapon of mass destruction.' We feel that with such a history, the Royal Kingdom must protect itself by having nuclear weapons to deter the United States from attacking us under such a false pretense."
