VASEHN - The Sovereign, His Majesty The King Andre I, advised by the Department of Environment and the Department of Health, has issued a royal decree that the enforcement of anti-tobacco laws must be made more aware to visitors of the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan. The Department of Environment has noticed a decline in air quality, specifically in the province of Aushauszemlya, which tends to be more influenced by the People's Republic of China. The Department of Health has noted that persons eligible for Employment Visa Class T and Tourism Visa Class F have failed to adhere to anti-smoking laws enacted by the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan. The Department of Tourism noted it was not in a position to contribute to the discussion as the problem was based on individuals and not with visa issuance procedures. Acknowledging these issues, the government feels that the problem eminates from China but also understands the difficulties faced by foreign visitors who are not familiar with the laws of the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan.
By the royal decree, the port of entry with the People's Republic of China must provide anti-smoking signage for all persons entering the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan by no later than 20 January. The signage must include the official language of the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan, Trimble, and the officially recognized languages of English, German and Simplified Mandarin Chinese. In addition to these three languages, the signage shall also include languages not officially recognized by the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan to provide clarity and eliminate confusion.
The Sovereign, His Majesty The King Andre I announced, "The Department of Environment and the Department of Health have raised serious issues regarding our neighbor nation of the People's Republic of China. The main issues have been of foreign visitors who do not understand our policy against the use of smoking products and their culture and national policies which already affect our nation's air quality. It is in the best interests of our nation to limit the detrimental effects the Chinese can do to our quality of environment and of our people's health. Therefore, it was vital to make it clear at our port of entry that smoking is illegal in the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan. The design of the sign will include our official language and officially recognized langauges. It was raised that the sign's design should also include Traditional Chinese script which is more precise in it's meaning and may be understood by some visitors along with Russian which, having been previously taught in the Chinese cirriculum, is understood by some older visitors to our nation as well as any speakers of Russian that would visit. Our neighbors in China have a tradition of smoking in their culture but our nation does not share in this culture. We must make this clear that it is neither acceptable nor lawful to smoke in the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan. We believe China should welcome any smoker that wants to leave our nation for such an unhealthy purpose. Smoking is their culture and their problem, not ours, so let them deal with it."
Some media sources in the Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan have accused The Sovereign, His Majesty The King Andre I of verbal sabre-rattling. When asked about the accusations, The Sovereign, His Majesty The King Andre I dismissed the suggestions, saying, "Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. It's not important for them to know. It's only important for me to know." Pushed further, The Sovereign, His Majesty The King Andre I bemoaned "Our citizens know the laws. Their citizens might know their laws but they don't seem to know some basic laws or courtesies of our nation. When our citizens go abroad, we expect them to do their homework and follow the norms of where ever they're going. We know the Chinese don't do that here. They expect the world to play by their game, their way, even if they make up the rules as they go. The Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan doesn't do any of that. We have our laws for our nation's best interests. Our government cares about our people and, ultimately, it's their nation, not mine. The Royal Kingdom of Trimblestan does not belong to the The Sovereign of Trimblestan, it belongs to each and every citizen. I'll die one day but the nation will continue into the future under another monarch based on the law of succession."
